何を隠そう、しょっちゅう靴下に穴が開くんですぅ。エコについて考えるとき、この靴下問題はすごく悩ましい。。。環境に配慮すると100パーセントオーガニックコットンやウールの靴下が一番なんだろうけど、伸びやすかったり穴があきやすかったりで、結局しょっちゅう買い換えないといけない。丈夫だからといって化学繊維のものにすると、肌が敏感なのでかゆくなったり、静電気が起こったり、床がフローリングだからツルツルすべったりする。

As a matter of fact, I often get a hole in my sock. When thinking about ecology, this sock problem is very troubling. . .With respect to environment, 100% organic cotton or wool socks is probably the best, but it stretches easily and gets holes easily, so you end up having to replace it frequently. If I use synthetic fibers because they are durable, my sensitive skin will get itchy, static electricity will occur, and it will be slippery on the hardwood floor.

今回も悩んだ挙句、pactの靴下を試してみることにしました。全部で7足。オーガニックコットンにナイロンとエラステーンのブレンド。

After thinking about it again this time, I decided to try “pact” socks. Total 7 pairs. A blend of organic cotton with nylon and elastane.

早速3足履いてみたけど、履き心地も悪くないし、洗濯後もしっかり形を保っている。あ、こうやって記録に残しておくと、何ヶ月もつのか後でわかるじゃん💡

I tried wearing 3 pairs immediately. They are comfortable to wear, and they keep their shape after washing. If I post it in my blog like this, I can find out later how many months it will last💡

ちなみに柄物の3足セットはこんな紙のパッケージに入ってました。『Earth’s Favorite Clothing.』ってすごいキャッチコピーだな。

By the way, the patterned 3-pair set was in a paper package like this. What a catchphrase: “Earth’s Favorite Clothing.”

そして穴の開いた靴下はテキスタイルのリサイクルへ。。。以前は、ホールフーズの駐車場にあった緑の大きい回収ボックスに入れていたんですが、パンデミックで撤去されてしまったので、James Recyclingのリサイクルイベントか何かに持って行くために紙袋に入れて保管します。Curbside*で回収してくれたら楽なのになぁ。

*自治体のゴミ回収をこう呼びます。埋め立てゴミは週に一回、リサイクルと庭のYard Debrisは隔週、家の前に出しておくと回収される。

Then, socks with holes will be taken to recycle for textiles. . . I used to put unusable clothing into the big green collection box in the parking lot of Whole Foods, but it was removed due to the pandemic. So I put them in a paper shopping bag for now to take to James Recycling‘s event or something in the future. It would be nice if you could collect it Curbside　(this is how municipal waste collection is called. Landfill waste is picked up once a week, for recycling and Yard Debris, every other week. )
