タイトルにリサクルイベントと書きましたが、正しくはリサイクル、リユーズ、サステイナビリティのイベントです。全て無料！！！私が住んでいるオレゴン州ワシントン郡、リサイクルの大御所Metro、そして4つのキャンパスに3800本の木が植えられており、Tree Campus Higher Educationの指定を受けたポートランドコミュニティカレッジが協賛しています。こういったイベントは、一つ一つ違う場所に持って行く手間が省けるので助かります。
I wrote “recycling event” in the title, but it’s actually an event for recycling, reuse, and sustainability. All free! ! ! Washington County, recycling mogul Metro, and PCC(Portland Community College), which has 3,800 trees planted across its four campuses and has been designated as Tree Campus Higher Education, co-sponsored the event. Such an event saves me the trouble of having to take each item to a different place.

写真上のものを種類ごと別々の袋に入れて、娘二人に手伝ってもらって、勇んで行って来ました。
が、
午前10時開始のイベントに午後1時に行ったら、キャパオーバーで終わってるところもありました。寄付とエピペンは、もう集めてくれなくて持ち帰る羽目に。それは残念でしたが、いろいろなリサイクルやネイチャー関連のブースも出ていて、老若男女楽しんでいました。うちも、ガーデニングのブースで、野菜の種をタダでいただいて来ました。新しく学んだこともありました。電池はZiplockの袋に入れて、瓶と一緒にcurbside（自治体のゴミ回収）に出せるとか。こういうイベントは早く行かないと、集めてくれないこともあるとか。長女はキッチン用品の交換テーブルを見て、「チョコレートメーカーがいっぱいある。ちょっと使って終わりなのかな。」素晴らしい観察眼と洞察力。自分も、こういった「つい買っちゃった」がないように頑張ろうっと😓
I put the items in the picture above in different bags for each type, and with the help of my two daughters, I went to the event with enthusiasm.
But,
When I arrived there at 1 pm (the event started at 10 am), some services were over since they had collected more than their limit. Donations and Epi-pens were no longer accepted, so I had to take them home. That was sad, but there were various recycling and nature-related booths, and men and women of all ages enjoyed themselves. We as well received free vegetable seeds at the gardening booth. I also learned something new. You can put used batteries in a Ziplock bag and put it in the red glass recycling bin for curbside pick up. If you don’t go to this kind of event early, you may not be able to get your stuff accepted. My eldest daughter looked at the kitchen items exchange table and said, “There are so many chocolate makers. Looks like people only use them a little and they’re done.” I have to do my best not to do impulse buy myself😓
