〜SOLVEのゴミ拾いイベントに行って来ました。I went to SOLVE’s trash pick up event.〜

友人に誘われて、「Pick Up for a Pint」というゴミ拾いのイベントに行って来ました。Binary Brewingというビールの醸造所と、SOLVEというゴミを拾ってオレゴンを綺麗にするNGOのコラボイベントです。まぁ、ゴミ拾いの後にただでビール一杯飲めるというイベントです。SOLVEのイベントは以前から興味があったのですが、今回のは場所が近いのと友人と一緒で一人じゃないのとで、即飛びつきました。決して、ビール目的ではないです😅

Invited by a friend, I went to a trash pick up event called “Pick Up for a Pint“. This is a collaboration event between a brewery called Binary Brewing and an NGO called SOLVE that cleans up Oregon by picking up trash. Well, it is an event where you can drink a free beer after picking up trash. I’ve been interested in SOLVE events for a long time, but this time I went with a friend because the place was close and I was not alone, so I jumped at it immediately. Never for beer😅

天気予報では最高気温が華氏85度（摂氏29度）の予報だったので（といっても最高気温になるのは夕方5時ごろ、イベントは午後1時まで）、帽子、水筒、手袋を持参し、半袖のTシャツの上にトレーナーを着て出陣。9時45分に着いて受付に行ってみたら、もうチェックインの列ができてました😲 チェックインして、ゴミ袋とゴミ掴み棒、イベント用ベストを借りて、渡された地図の場所へ行きました。場所はビーバートンファーマーズマーケットの周辺。

The weather forecast called for a maximum temperature of 85 degrees Fahrenheit (29 degrees Celsius). (Highest temperature is around 5:00 p.m. , though, and the event ends at 1:00 p.m.) So, I brought a hat, water bottle and gloves and wore a short-sleeved T-shirt under a sweat and went to the event. When I arrived at 9:45 am and went to the reception, there was already a line for check-in😲 After checking in, we borrowed a garbage bag, garbage grabbers, and event vests, and went to the location on the map that was handed to us. The location was near the Beaverton Farmer’s Market.

マーケットは昨日だったので、ゴミがいっぱい落ちているかと思いきや、大して落ちていない。1時間半もするとほとんど拾うゴミもなくなって切り上げ。それでもちゃんとビールのタダ券はもらえました。SOLVEのイベントは子供連れが多いイメージだったけど、お酒がらみのイベントだったためか、子供連れは１グループだけ。大人のカップルや男一人で来てる人が多かった印象です。

The market was yesterday, so I thought there would be a lot of trash, but not much. After an hour and a half, there was almost no garbage to pick up and we were done. Still, we got free tickets for beer. SOLVE’s event had an image of many people with children, but it’s an event related to alcohol, so only one group with children. Mostly adult couples and single men came to the event.

1時間半のゴミ拾いでビール一杯ただでもらえたのはちょっと気が引けたけど、結局食事も頼んだから、まぁいいか。友達も言ってたけど、こういうイベントは店側にも利点がありますね。私たちみたいに食事を頼んだり、おつまみを頼む人は2杯目のビールを頼んだり。店の知名度アップにもなります。宣伝をするわけではありませんが、このビール醸造所はコンピューターがテーマで、メニューにもそれが現れていました。404のついたものが多数あったり、bitesがbytesになってたり。私が気に入ったのは、フライドポテト🍟がonesでオニオンリングがzerosと括弧書きしてあったところ（形が重要）。二進数（バイナリー）ですからね😉 私が頼んだのは写真手前の404 Nut Brown。普段ビールを飲まない私ですが、思ったより美味しかった。決して、ビール目的でこのイベントに行ったわけではないんですけどね😅

I was a little sorry that I picked up trash for only an hour and a half and got a free beer, but in the end I also ordered a meal. So that’s fine. As my friend said, this kind of event also has advantages for the store. There are people like us who order food or others who order snacks then order a second glass of beer. The publicity of the store may also go up. I don’t intend to advertise, but the brewery is computer-themed and the menu reflects that.
There are many items with 404, and bites are replaced with bytes in the menu. I especially liked that the fries🍟 had ones and the onion rings had zeros in parentheses (shape matters). It’s binary numbers😉 I ordered the 404 Nut Brown in front in the picture. I don’t usually drink beer, but it was better than I thought. Well, I never went to the event for beer purposes😅
