ゴミ出しについて、以前ブログでお話しさせていただきました（リンクはここ）。おさらいすると、月々$23.86で毎週埋め立てゴミ（20ガロン）の回収、隔週リサイクルと庭ゴミの回収というサービスを使っていました。我が家はリサイクルも埋め立てゴミも三ヶ月に一回ほどしか回収に出さないので、とても割りに合わないなーと思っていたのです。4年前に埋め立てゴミの隔週回収のサービスはないかと尋ねたのですが、その時はそんなサービスはないとのことでした。

I talked about taking out trash on my blog before (Link here). As a review, I was using weekly landfill collection (20 gallon), biweekly recycling and yard waste collection for $23.86 per month. My family takes out both recycling and landfill waste only once every three months, so I was thinking that I was paying too much for the service. Four years ago, I asked if there was a bi-weekly collection service for landfill waste, but at the time I was told that there was no such service.

たまたま書類の整理をしていて見つけたのが、2年前のゴミとリサイクルの回収価格の値上げのお知らせ。おそらくその時は忙しくて、読まずにファイルしたんでしょう。内容は値上げ以外に覚えてません。2枚目をよく見ると、あるじゃないですか！埋め立てゴミの随時回収サービスが！リサイクルと庭ゴミは今まで通りに隔週回収で、埋め立てゴミだけ回収して欲しい時に連絡する。これが、月々$10.29プラス埋め立てゴミ回収にその都度$5.02。最近、ゴミリサイクル回収の値段を聞いた時にも、こんなサービスがあるって言ってなかったし、ウェブサイトにもこんなサービスがあるとはどこにも書いてない。ありがちな、そういうサービスがあるって知ってて自分から申し込まないとサービスを受けられないやつね。実はこんなサービスもありますよーとオファーしてくれたりしない。って、通知を読まなかった私が悪いのか😓

By chance, I was sorting out my documents and found the notice about the fee increase in garbage and recycling collection from two years ago. Perhaps I was busy at the time and filed it without reading it. I don’t remember anything other than the price increase. If you look closely at the second page, there is! Will-Call service for landfill waste! Recycling and yard waste are collected every other week as before, and you will contact them when you want the landfill garbage to be collected. That’s $10.29 a month plus $5.02 for each landfill collection. When I asked about the price of the garbage & recycling collection recently, they didn’t say there was such a service, nor did it say anywhere on the website that such a service was available. It’s the kind of thing that happens. You can’t get it unless you know there’s a service like that and you ask for it yourself. They don’t offer you anything special like “there is actually a service like this for you”. Well, is it my fault that I didn’t read the notification though😓

そういうわけで、以前値段の問い合わせに使ったメールアドレスに連絡して、埋め立てゴミ随時回収のサービスに切り替えてもらいました。まあ、この連絡のやり取りもスムーズにはいかなかったわけですが。サービス開始の住所が間違ってたり、ゴミ箱の交換が予定通りに行われなかったり。ゴミ箱は随時回収サービスの場合は35ガロンなので、今まで使っていた20ガロンのゴミ箱との交換が必要でした。これで、埋め立てゴミの回収は多分5ヶ月に一回でよくなります。そんなこんなで、ゴミリサイクル回収代が$23.86から$10.29と半分以下になりました。イエイ👍

Then, I contacted the e-mail address I used to inquire about the price before and asked them to switch to Will-Call service. Well, this communication did not go smoothly either. The service start address they wrote in the e-mail was incorrect, or the trash cart was not replaced on schedule. The garbage cart is 35 gallons for Willl-Call service, so the 20 gallons that I was using needed to be replaced. Now I will probably take out landfill cart once every five months. This and that, my garbage & recycling collection fee has been reduced from $23.86 to $10.29, less than half. Yay👍
